Some post-Renaissance and "non-Western" works are also included, but copyright restrictions prevent the inclusion of most 20th and 21st century works.
Use the search box to search for images or artworks, or browse by artist, period and genre. The Metropolitan Museum's website contains over 260,000 images of artworks with descriptions and information about their creators, materials, and provenance.
