Configure Zotero to Access Full Text with Find it @ Doane

When you select an item from your library, you can click the green arrow next to the search box to find full text of that item online. You can configure Zotero to use Find it @ Doane to find full text, which allows you to seamlessly connect to full-text library resources.

Find full text

To configure Zotero to use Find it @ Doane:

1. Click the Zotero icon in the bottom right corner of your browser window to open the Zotero pane.

2. Click on the Actions menu icon () and select Preferences.

3. Click the Advanced tab.

4. In the Resolver field under OpenURL, enter the following URL: https://doane.on.worldcat.org/atoztitles/

5. Under Version, select 1.0.

Now Zotero is optimized for use with library resources at Doane University.

Configure Zotero for Off-Campus Proxy Access

The library makes a proxy server available for off-campus access to licensed resources that use IP-based authentication. Accessing these resources through the library website will send you through the proxy automatically, but using the proxy is more difficult when accessing resources directly through a publisher's website or Google Scholar.

Zotero will store the proxy server's URL and send you through the proxy automatically when you access publisher websites, databases, and other library-licensed resources. This behavior is enabled by default; the first time you access a resource using the proxy Zotero will detect it and will prompt you to store the proxy server's URL. Subsequent visits to the same resource will be routed through the proxy automatically.

To configure the proxy server settings manually:

1. Click the Zotero icon in the bottom right corner of your browser window to open the Zotero pane.

2. Click on the Actions menu icon () and select Preferences.

3. Click the Proxies tab.

4. Check Automatically remember proxied resources.

5. Use the "+" button to configure a new proxy.

6. Select the Multi-Site option.

7. Select Automatically associate new hosts.

8. Under Hostname, use the "+" button to enter the URL of at least one library resource if none are present (the proxy scheme will not save without something this field). Example: http://jstor.org.

9. Under Scheme, enter the following URL: http://proxyweb.doane.edu/login?url=

10. Click OK to save the new proxy scheme.

Proxy schemes are an advanced feature, and Zotero's automatic proxy feature has been known to interfere with some Zotero translators. If you are having trouble configuring Zotero to use automatic proxying search the Zotero Forums.
